Done With Unwanted Hair? Why Laser Hair Removal Might Be Your Answer

Done With Unwanted Hair? Why Laser Hair Removal Might Be Your Answer

You’ve spent countless hours shaving, plucking, or waxing the hair from your arms, legs, and underarms, and countless dollars on depilatories or spa fees, but what have you got to show for it? Chances are, not much except the same hair where you don’t want it.

At Med Physique Center for Aesthetics in Austin, Texas, our master aestheticians use the GentleMax Pro® for laser hair removal, the gold standard in the industry. It’s safe, easy to use, and there’s absolutely no downtime, just smooth, hairless skin. Here’s why we believe laser hair removal is the answer to your problem.

The basics of laser hair removal

Laser hair removal is just what it sounds like — a treatment that removes unwanted hair on your body using lasers. The procedure is completely non-invasive, so you don’t have to worry about wounds and downtime. The most frequently targeted areas to remove hair are:

Lasers work through a process called selective photothermolysis. In addition to light, the lasers produce heat, which destroys cells that are highly pigmented. Dark hair has a lot of pigment, so it absorbs the most heat. The hair shaft transfers the heat to the hair follicles, destroying them and preventing hair from regrowing.

The process only works for hair follicles in their anagen, or growth, stage. Since only some of your follicles are in that stage at any given time, most people need multiple sessions to remove all their unwanted hair.

The GentleMax Pro that we use at Med Physique Center for Aesthetics is a single system that employs two fast and powerful lasers: the Alexandrite and the YAG. This dual laser system allows us to customize treatment for all skin types. The GentleMax Pro delivers a controlled amount of intense energy to the targeted area, while its cool pulse provides increased comfort. It’s safe and effective at destroying follicles without harming the skin around them.

We’ve had great success with this platform. Clients can achieve their hair-free goals with fewer sessions, making it more convenient and affordable. And most report much less discomfort than with other lasers. You do feel a tingling sensation during the treatment due to the heat, but many people describe it like being lightly snapped with a rubber band or like a warm pinch. And once the treatment is over, the sensation goes away.

If you’ve got unwanted hair and are tired of shaving, waxing, or plucking, laser hair removal might be your answer. To learn more, or to set up a consultation with one of our aestheticians, give Med Physique Center for Aesthetics a call at 512-361-2650, or book online with us today.
